Leadership, followership, and when to do one or the other

We begin another iteration of the NAIS School Leadership Institute tomorrow outside DC, so the topic of leading is very much on my mind.  A colleague sent this link to a funny, yet quite provocative, video of a shirtless dancing guy at a summer music festival.  The narrator makes a terrific point about the pivotal, make that essential, role followers play in a leader's success or lack thereof.  Best such clip I've seen all season.

One take away (among many): it is the arrival of the "first follower" that turns a lone nut into a leader.  Worth thinking about, in my view.
