Best Laid Plans

In NJ for an administrative team retreat, the first such gathering that I am part of for the coming year. It is a good time for admin teams to take stock and look ahead. What would they like to accomplish as a team in the coming year? How can everyone get and remain on the same page even when the inevitable pressure of a school year bears down in December and January? It takes work to hold a team together, and summer is a fine time for talking the process over when everyone is at least a little relaxed. The same applies to governing boards.

Maybe the biggest question is about how team members can support each other when chaos starts along about the first day faculty arrive. We all know plans change rapidly on the fly; the challenge is in keeping everyone's new plans in sync.
