The Value to Add
More evidence that content is a commodity in education comes from a Financial Times survey of business school alumni with the question, "What is the most important skill or trait needed to future-proof your career — and why?" The answers include:
- Curiosity
- Managing up and down effectively
- Networking
- Salesmanship
- Stamina
- Basic understanding of coding and application development
- Balance health, family and work
Nothing said about knowing calculus or the molecular number of certain elements, not that these aren't important. The point is that content is a table stake in education--there is no value to be added. The real impact of education--the value that makes private, independent schools worth the money--is in the above.
