Sometimes showing up is what it takes

Los Angeles--Landed at LAX from Bangkok to "watch" the Cardinals win the baseball World Series via an iPhone app.  This is their third Series win since I have lived in St. Louis (1982, 2006 & 2011), and is by far the most improbable.  Despite a bad start to the year, trailing by 10 games in August, and having weak pitching (at best), what made them successful in the end was simple: they just kept showing up, especially when it would have been easy to call it a season and start planning for year.

The leadership lesson?  That an often overlooked role of leading is to get everyone on the team (or in the school or on the board) to keep showing up and putting in effort, regardless of how improbable success might seem at the moment.

Oh, and the home opener at Busch is set for April 14 (the Cubbies!).  I2 in '12, anyone?

(My apologies to my non-US readers for a very US-centric post.)
