Deconstructing Myths about International Education
New data from the Institute of International Education, as displayed in its Open Doors Report, shows that international students enrolled in U.S. higher education institutions are pursuing a broad range of studies. To be sure, a large percentage are from east and southeast Asia, and are enrolled in engineering, math or computer science programs, but the proportion in business and management or the social sciences is equivalently large. The international segment is the only growing part of the U.S. education landscape. What these data suggest is that smart schools will make international education a front-and-center plank of their strategic plans.
