Mixed messages
The below tent card sign was in my hotel room outside Philadelphia this morning. While not the Four Seasons, the hotel was clearly oriented toward upscale business travel--the bed was comfortable, the toiletries first-class, and the thread-count quite high. And then there was this sign, something geared more toward a roadside motel along Route 66.
The text says, "Towels are inventoried daily. Guests are responsible for the quantity. Should you desire to purchase towels, please contact the front desk."
It's in little things like this that a business sends customers a mixed message. And the message that gets through is anything but what these folks no doubt spent a fortune advertising.
