At the Confluence of Mission and Business

Independent schools sit at the confluence of mission and business. We like to say that schools are mission driven, but in reality a school can only have as much mission as it can afford. Our mission may dictate accessibility for families through a robust financial aid program, but in the end, all financial aid must have a funding mechanism attached or it is simply another form of discounting. Absent a dedicated financial aid funding stream, most day schools are going to hit very real limits in their capacity to fulfill mission. On the one hand, this is a fact of life, but on the other we see an opportunity to build a community of supporters who will contribute to financial aid by funding scholarships for up to four years. Few donations will have as immediate an impact of students' lives.
