Crossing Another Divide
As a follow-up to my post on the CNAS report on a Israeli-Palestinian 2-state solution, listen to the NPR "All Things Considered" story about Kai Bird's new book, Crossing Mandelbaum Gate. Bird's take on the situation is especially interesting given that he was raised in East Jerusalem with an Arab view of the conflict, yet crossed the Mandelbaum Gate (the checkpoint that used to separate Jordanian Jerusalem from Israel prior to the 1967 war) and married a Jewish woman, the daughter of Holocaust survivors.
